Hair Tip #1: Switch To Silk
Switching to a silk pillowcase is probably one of the most underutilized and best hair tricks there is. Making this switch will not only give you the best hair ever, but it is also better for your skin!
Cotton pillowcases absorb moisture, not only from your skin, but also your hair. This can cause bed hair, split ends, and breakage. Also, a bonus is that silk pillowcases have been proven to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles. Silk pillowcases are more expensive, but the extra cost is definitely worth it for all of the benefits. Check out some amazing silk pillowcases here.
Helpful Hair Tip #2: Massage Your Scalp
Did you know that massaging your scalp, for even just one minute, helps to reduce stress, reduce pain, and promote hair growth. Believe it or not, the increased circulation of blood flow from a massage will help to strengthen your hair’s roots and promote hair growth.
Amazing Hair Trick #3: Do The Flip
Once you have finished styling your hair, flip your head upside down and blow dry again. This may seem repetitive, but it works, trust me! Wait for your hair to cool, and then flip back over. Your hair will magically have more bounce and volume.
Quick Hair Tip #4: Use A Wide Tooth Comb
When brushing wet hair, always use a wide tooth comb. Using paddle brushes can be much harsher on hair and will cause for breakage and damage. The wide tooth comb will allow for you to untangle your hair and cause less damage.
Best Hair Tips #5: Prevent The Frizz
Having frizzy hair is never fun, but there are many hair tips and tricks to help prevent the frizz. First, if you have extremely frizzy hair, always use a conditioner when you shampoo. Secondly, do not rub or twist your hair dry, but instead always press dry.
Lastly, add a combination of smoothing cream and gel to your hair while it is damp. If you have straight hair, use a nickel size amount of leave in conditioner and a dime size amount of sculpting gel. If you have curly hair do the opposite of this mixture. Once you have added the mixture to your hair let it dry and work its magic.
Hair Tricks #6: Fake A Super Long Ponytail
This amazing hair trick is some of the best hair advice I have ever received! First, gather the top section of your hair and create a high ponytail. Create this ponytail as if you are going to create a high half updo hairstyle. Next, gather the remaining hair and crate a bottom ponytail below the top. Secure the bottom pony in a tight low ponytail. Lastly, fluff and position your top ponytail to cover the bottom and you will have the illusion of a longer, fuller ponytail.
Hairstyle Tips #7: Switch To Spin Pins
Spin pins are great for many different hairstyles, but especially is you love putting your hair into a bun. I have thick hair, and love buns, and previously used a handful of bobby pins. I have since switched out to these amazing spin pins and only need 2 for my hair to stay up all day. Check out all the different options for spin pins here.
Best Hair Tips #8: Salt Water Protection
Salt water can be pretty damaging to our hair. Salt water is dehydrating and will pull moisture out of your hair leaving it feeling dry. Also, salt water will open your hair cuticles causing for colored hair to fade and become dull.
Guard your hair from salt water by soaking it with fresh water first. As our hair can only absorb a certain amount of water, soaking first will create an invisible barrier from the salt water.
Hair Tips And Tricks #9: Get Rid of Static
Dryer sheets are not just for laundry. If you have overly static hair, simply grab a dryer sheet and rub on your hair from root to tip. Also, if you prefer, you can push a dryer sheet through the bristles on your brush and create your own static removing brush.
Hair Tips #10: The Correct Way To Use A Bobby Pin
Bobby pins were designed to be inserted with the wavy side down. Can you believe it?! The wavy side of the bobby pin should be closest to your scalp and will hold your hair in the notches. The straight side of the bobby pin is designed to hold the hair down. Also, this way looks much better when you create hairstyles with bobby pins.
Best Hair Care Tips #11: Forget The Scalp
Our scalps naturally produce oils that are healthy for our hair. When we constantly wash and condition our hair we are only adding more oils which can leave the hair looking more greasy. For best results, only condition the bottom 3/4 of your hair.
Cool Hair Tip #12: Ponytail Illusion
If you have thin hair, sometimes your ponytail will start to loose its volume and start falling down. When you are creating your ponytail, on the last loop, only pull half of your hair through. This will cause for half of your ponytail to be pushed down, and lift the other up. This will create the illusion of a fuller ponytail.
Hair Trick #13: Fake A Fuller Ponytail
Do you ever wish your ponytail had a little more volume and had that picturesque pony shape? Well, the answer is simple – a small hair clip. Once you have secured your ponytail, simply split your pony in half and insert a small hair clip. Now hide the clip with the top half of your pony and you have the instant perfect ponytail.
Hair Tips And Tricks #14: Pancake Your Braid
Pancaking is a term used for when you pull and tug at your braid to give more volume. Simply create your desired braid and make sure it is secure. Starting at the top of your braid, begin to tug and pull outwards on each section of the braid to give the illusion of a fuller, thicker braid.
Best Hair Tips #15: No Heat Curls
Heating and styling tools will damage your hair, so finding the best hair tricks that do not require heat are essential for hair health. Simply find a soft headband that is comfortable and of somewhat thick. Take hair from underneath your headband and wrap it around the headband towards the back of your head.
The tighter you wrap around the headband, the tighter the curls. What is great about this hair trick is that you can wrap your hair and go to bed to wake up to beautiful curls, or you can do this while getting ready and have curls ready in a minimum of 30 minutes.
Best Hair Advice #16: Dry Before You Style
ALWAYS wait until your hair is completely dry before using a curling iron, straightener, or any other heat styling equipment. If you use heat styling tools on wet or damp hair this will pull out the hair’s vitamins and elasticity causing brittleness and breakage.
Hair Tips #17: Blast Out Your Dry Shampoo
Using dry shampoo is one of the best hair tricks you can do when you don’t have time, or simply don’t want to wash and dry your hair. When using dry shampoo you should spray your roots to help absorb any of the grease and oil to reinvigorate your hair.
The majority of people tend to rub in the dry shampoo and go on with their day, but they are only leaving in the excess dirt, oil, and product in their hair. This great hairstyle tip is to use your hair dryer and blow out all of the dry shampoo product from your hair once you have used it. This will help to remove all of the oils and products and give you not only a great look, but also healthier hair.
Hair Tricks #18: Magical Illusion For Thicker Hair
If you have thin hair or are thinning in some areas, this is the hair trick for you. Simply find an eye shadow that is similar to your hair color. Fill in your parts and areas of your hair that are thinning with the eye shadow. You will immediately appear to have a thicker, fuller head of hair.
Helpful Hair Tips #19: Brush Before You Wash
I don’t know about you, but I loose a lot of hair every time I shower. Brushing your hair before you shower will not prevent hair falling out during washing, but it will cut down the amount in the shower significantly. This will save not only your hair, but also your drain. Also, one of my favorite inventions is the TubShroom that catches all of your loose hair and protects your drain.
Hairstyle Tips #20: Tame the Fly-Aways
Nothing is more frustrating than when you have a lot of little fly-away hairs that you can not get to behave. if you do not want to spray your entire hair full of hairspray for a few small fly-aways, this is your hair trick. Simply keep an old toothbrush handy and give it a quick touch of hairspray. Use the toothbrush to attack just the fly-aways and save the rest of your hairstyle from overbearing product.
Hair Trick #21: Spray Your Bobby Pins
Bobby pins can be an amazing hair tool, but they can also cause a lot of issues when they randomly fall out in the middle of the night. In order to make sure that your bobby pins stay in, give them a quick spray of dry shampoo or hairspray to give them some extra grip before inserting them into your hair. Once you spray your bobby pins, let them dry for a couple minutes before inserting them into your hairstyle.
Best Hair Tips And Tricks #22: Skip A Day
It is healthy for your hair to not be washed or styled every day. Skip a day here and there and keep a small spray bottle available for those days you don’t have the energy or time to spend on a full style. This is the perfect hair tip for those with bangs or stubborn curls that you need to spray and style without affecting the rest of your hair. Instead of going through the full process of washing, drying, and styling your hair, simply spray the area you need to fix from your handy spray bottle, dry and style.
Best Hair Tips #23: Let Your Products Absorb
According to new studies, the average woman spends around $80 per month on hair products. If you live in California or Texas though you are looking at closer to $120 a month. Unfortunately, many of us do not take full advantage of our hair products. Next time you use your products, let them soak for at least ten minutes to make sure your hair absorbs all the nutrients and benefits of the product before you start styling.
Best Hair Trick #24: Easy Beach Waves
This is another easy and quick hair trick to help you get those perfect beach waves. Start off by drying your hair until it is about 80% dry, you still want to make sure that your hair is slightly damp to obtain the wave style. Next, twist off sections of hair and begin to blow dry them from root too tip. You will want to dry your twist until it is almost completely dry in order to make your waves stay and calm down any frizz.
Best Hair Tip #25: Put An End To Split Ends
Split ends are never fun and are extremely annoying. You can always go and get your split ends cut, but many of us do not want a haircut just because we have some split ends. The best option is to use a DIY mask to help heal your hair.
Once a week, before washing, apply this DIY mask to your hair and cover with plastic wrap for at least 1 hour. Combine 1 egg yolk, 1 Tbsp of honey, and 3 Tbsp of olive oil for a great split end DIY mask.
